   About us

Everywhere we work, we make friends.

With children who need schoolbooks, with seniors who need transportation and with people we may never meet.

We're led by talented, dedicated volunteer leaders from around the world. And, we're supported by the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF), which helps to fund Lions humanitarian projects. The International Headquarters for both Lions Clubs International and the LCIF is in Oak Brook, Illinois, USA.

  Lions International

Whenever a Lions club gets together, problems get smaller. And communities get better. That's because we help where help is needed – in our own communities and around the world – with unmatched integrity and energy. Our 45,000 clubs and 1.35 million members make us the world's largest service club organization. We get the job done. .
We recently:

- Brought 3,000 volunteers together to build a playground for children of all abilities in   California, USA.
- Fed 60,000 people in a township in South Africa. It's something Lions do there every   day.
- Sent a team of eye surgeons to Honduras to treat more than 100 adults and children.

   History        Lions Club International  Purposes

Lions Clubs International began as a dream of a Chicago insurance man, Melvin Jones. He believed that local business clubs should expand their horizons from purely professional concerns to the betterment of their communities and the world at large. A meeting was held on 7th June 1917 in Chicago, USA and the group took the name of "Association of Lions Clubs". Our mission is "to create and foster a spirit of understanding among all people for humanitarian needs by providing voluntary service through community involvement and international co-operation". In October 1957, Cape Town was the first club chartered in South Africa.
Since 1917, Lions Clubs have offered people the opportunity to give something back to their communities.  Lions tackle tough problems like blindness, drug abuse prevention and diabetes awareness, collect & recycle eyeglasses, cleaning up a park area or bringing sight to the world’s blind.  Today, approximately 1,35 million men and women in 45,000 clubs in 200 countries are expanding their focus to help meet the ever-increasing needs of the global communities.

Lions are an international network of 1.3 million men and women in 205 countries and geographic areas who work together to answer the needs that challenge communities around the world.
Lions are men and women who volunteer their time to humanitarian causes. Founded in 1917, the volunteer organization's motto is "We Serve"

Lions Code of Ethics

TO SHOW
my faith in the worthiness of my vocation by industrious application to the end that I may merit a reputation for quality of service.

TO SEEK success and to demand all fair remuneration or profit as my just due, but to accept no profit or success at the price of my own self-respect lost because of unfair advantage taken or because of questionable acts on my part.

TO REMEMBER that in building up my business it is not necessary to tear down another’s; to be loyal to my clients or customers and true to myself.

WHENEVER a doubt arises as to the right or ethics of my position or action towards others, to resolve such doubt against myself.

TO HOLD friendship as an end and not a means. To hold that true friendship exists not on account of the service performed by one to another, but that true friendship demands nothing but accepts service in the spirit in which it is given.

ALWAYS to bear in mind my obligations as a citizen to my nation, my state and my community, and to give them my unswerving loyalty in word, act and deed. To give them freely of my time, labor, and means.

TO AID others by giving my sympathy to those in distress, my aid to the weak, and my substance to the needy.

TO BE CAREFUL with my criticism and liberal with my praise; to build up and not destroy.
