Lions Clubs have numerous projects running
concurrently.
These projects fall mainly in 2 categories;
Community Service Projects and Fund Raiser Projects

An
art project to assist the visually impaired in South Africa. Paintings are
donated and sold and proceeds are donated to the guide dogs association for
the blind. The

- Love Boxes
- A
community project to assist compromised children in our community. A love
box consists or a toothbrush, toothpaste, bar of soap, a face cloth,
underwear and a love toy. These love boxes are handed out to traumatized
kids at Child Line, Abraham Kriel Kinderhuis, CPU Child Protection Unit etc.

- Project Sight
First
- A
care project. This is the main focus of Lions Clubs International (LCI).
Community members who are visually impaired or community members with poor
visibility are assisted with cataract operations and spectacles.

- Charity Ball
- This
is a fund-raising project. A Grand Ball takes place annually and all
proceeds are used to finance projects in the community.

- Christmas Cakes
- This
is a fund-raising project. Christmas cakes are sold at R55-00 per cake and
profits are used by Lions Club Potchefstroom to finance other projects. To
order cakes, contact us via e-mail.

- Diabetes Awareness
-
Because one of the biggest threats of diabetes is blindness, we, Lions use
awareness programs to educate the community on the prevention, threats and
precautions.

- Precious Pet
- The
Precious Pet project is an annual event where tags are inserted into animals
to make them visible through tracking devices. The pet, if lost, can be
reunited with its owner.

- Clothes Project
-
Various organizations and individuals donate clothing to the Lions Club
Potchefstroom. These clothing is categorized into new and usable clothing.
The new clothes are sold and funds are used to finance other projects.
Used, but still in good condition is donated to charities and individuals in
need.

- White Cane
- The
White Cane project is a fund-raising project. Tins are used to collect
change form individuals, or from businesses who are prepared to keep the tin
near the till. All proceeds go to the guide dogs association for the blind
fund.

- Cards Project
- The
Card-making project is a fund-raising project. Cards are made and are sold
to businesses and individuals. All proceeds are used to finance other
projects in the club.

Care for the Care Givers
- The
project is a new project (Lion Heart Initiative). The project has as its
main focus, the caregivers in the community. Donations and other
sponsorships are used to “treat” caregivers and we try with this project to
get their minds and attention away from the unselfish, stressful and
thankless task they must perform.

Environmental Project
-
Various projects form part of this. These include the beautification of the
environment through tree-planting projects, to the latest project of the
Lions Club of Potchefstroom, where we adopted a park. We are responsible to
maintain and keep the corner clean.
